An Artist You Might Like - Drawing and Embroidery

Hurrah! A three day weekend! The hours of nothing to do! Bon-Bons, magazines, muscly young men fanning me with palm fronds!

Right.

I am off on a three day weekend. While I loathe my job at times, I have to give it to them for their commitment to work/life balance through PTO. I have a metric ton of it already. I spent yesterday cleaning the house and running errands. Today Hayden and I are heading to Birmingham to get out of town for a few hours and to visit a woodcraft store (for him) and a antique store (for me). I have so much to get done this month between studying and getting my 14 page Bar Exam application done, that I am taking it app and my study materials in the car with me as not to waste the 5 hours total drive time. I really want to spend some time working my my PL page tomorrow, as well as taking pictures of it for the blog, and possibly even getting a smidge of sewing done. I have a better chance of that if I utilize my time wisely today.

But before I left I wanted to share with you an artist I follow. I found Cate Avenski a year ago when I starting learning embroidery. I read both her blog and keep an eye on her Etsy shop.  (Links to her websites at the end of the post.)  I love the drawings she does, especially Ghost Paisley, something I hope to embroider this year.

A few weeks ago, I was so awesomely lucky enough to win an original drawing by her, which as soon as I get a frame, will be going up in my craft room. She not only sent the drawing, but some super cute stationary. Cate is a super friendly, super talented artist. Plus she lives in Portland, which makes her even cooler. I thought some of you who like things a little on the odd side might be interested in checking her out.

Happy new year! Hope you enjoyed your time off. Maybe you'll show us what you found at the antique store ;)
